Air travel and periods?

Can the height and pressure affect your flow? I've found that traveling with my period creates a heavier flow. Anyone else notice this? Can there be a scientific explaination for this?
Answer:
My period normally comes sooner when I travel. I think it's possibly pressure on the uterus.
When I traveled to Europe a couple of years ago I skipped that month. It freaked me out but apparently taking long flights screws with your cycle

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!?

I can't sleep! :o(
Answer:
Sorry, didn't get your Q until this morning ... woke up late! ;D
I used to have trouble sleeping ... had to take Advil and Benadryl every night to be able to go to sleep, woke up every morning with a headache. And I'd still wake up in the night.

THEN . I quit drinking my one cup of strong coffee in the morning. No more headaches. No more trouble going to sleep. No more waking up in the middle of the night. No more stomach aches. No more mood issues. When I told my doc about it, he ALMOST wanted to give up coffee, too!

I miss coffee. But not that much!
Me neither.
Neither can I, try Ambien
I have been having exactly the same problem. I have lay in bed trying to clear my mind and not worry about sleeping to see if that helped. Lavender is lovely to smell while you are in bed and chamomile tea helps with relaxation (only I can't stand the stuff personally)

Yoga before bed can really help slow down your mind and wear out your physical body before bed.

Good luck sweetie I know how it feels as I haven't been sleeping well for months now
If this happens regualry you may want to try kalms sleep.. they are natural. and help you sleep..
I must agree with you...thanx for 2
well its 9pm here and im tired as but to help you out when i cant sleep i drink cammomile tea...really calming and relaxing
me too
i can't sleep more that 3 hours there days
i don't know why
I'm really tired
try this. after evening try to avoid cola items and used to drink milk. when u going to sleep wash ur legs with pure water and try to sleep. not think about anything
me toooooooooo

Ah CRAMPS!! HELP??

I have really really bad cramps what can I do to make them go away or at least sooth them??
Answer:
Take a warm bath, drink loads of water, or get a heating pad and put it right where your cramps are.
take a pill. advil might work
heating pads help
Take some motrin, grab some chocolate and a heating pad and watch some Lifetime.
BANANAS help!! Eat a couple, it should help
Take some tylenol or pamprin, lay down on your stomach and get some rest. If it gets worse call your physician, there are some prescription meds they can give you if you have really bad PMS symptoms.
I get really bad cramps...so what I do is I take a midol and a coffee. I think it says not to mix those two together but thats what makes them go away for me. :) trust me. You'll feel so much better after.
My roommate swears by red raspberries. It's supposed to be the best natural remedy.
Advil works great - or if your pain is more severe, try naproxen sodium (Alleve). The earlier you take a painkiller - like at the FIRST sign of your period - the less pain you will have.
i know it doesn't make sense but if you exercise then it actually dulls the cramping...i cant remember where i read it and im not much on exercise so i clean and dance around some and it's really helped me alot.. also chocolate supposedly (read along time ago... may be proved differently now) will help... because of the endorphins in it? i think it said... other than that... I personally take a hot bath with my cup of coffee and a book to relax it usually works for me...
for my cramps I always take advil befor they start to lead them off. and I'm good.
I used to get really bad cramps n my mother-in-law would give me "manzanilla" which is chamomile tea n i would put a heat pack on my lower abdominal area. It helped me a lot, hope it helps u!

Agnus cactus?

I have had irregular periods since my youngest son was born in Nov 2005 and we have decided to try for another baby and I read that agnus cactus can help.Has anyone used it for irregular periods and did it help,Just before I go out and buy some so I can try that for a while before going to the doctors
Answer:
Agnus castus is one of many herbs that can be really helpful in sorting out period problems and hormone imbalances in women.

However, I would always suggest that you seek advice from an experienced herbalist, as there may be other herbs that may be more suitable in your case.

If you do decide to try agnus castus yourself - make sure that you get a good supply from a reputable (independent) supplier. Check the strength and the dosage, and make sure that nothing else has been added!

Hope you find the help you need.
One the best treatments for irregular periods and many other things is natural progesterone

http://www.progesterone.co.uk/index.cfm?...

one of many pages .. from searching for "natural progesterone irregular"

You may wish to do the on line hormone tests at http://www.hormoneprofile.com or http://www.johnleemd.com

If as I suspect they recommend you obtain hormones please have a saliva test done see http://www.npis.info or http://www.salivatest.com. A saliva test will check out active hormones something that blood tests do not. The WHO (World Health Organisation) uses saliva tests.

If a hormone is suggested by the saliva test please take the dose suggested. Size 10 shoes are not twice as good if you have size 5 feet.

A transcript of a John Lee talk http://www.keepsmilin.com/transcriptdrle... I have transcribed John Lee's December 2002 %26 June 2003 talks
http://uk.geocities.com/willim_walker@bt...
Any of these talks explain why for active hormone levels a blood test is worthless. Blood tests find hormones, but they are the ones on their way out of the body having done their work. They are not the active hormones.

I would rely on a saliva test to confirm the requirement for progesterone or any other hormones.

There is a list of doctors at http://www.npis.info who are aware of the benefits of natural progesterone they may be more helpful than your GP. Maybe you are about to educate your GP before using the hormones.

In countries other than the UK there are doctors knowledgeable about natural progesterone and other hormones

Natural progesterone means natural to humans i.e. identical to that produced by the human body.

For a good explanation of how vital natural progesterone is to humans see
http://www.hormoneprofile.com/howhormone...
and other pages on this site

Wild yam is that Wild Yam the body will not convert it to progesterone. Also do not take fake/synthetic progesterone/progestins manufactured by the drug companies they will be of NO benefit.

After having done a saliva test any progesterone you buy must be natural progesterone USP. USP means United States Pharmacopoeia.

If you skip to the end of http://uk.geocities.com/willim_walker@bt... there is a good summary -- 22 Susan Aschoff - St Petersburg Times Summary

When your hormone balance is better you''ll be healthier. All the best

AGH! MORE CRAMPS! [period]?

im miserable. whatta i do? HELP MEEEEEE my lower stomach hurts so bad! agh! i cant take it! MIDOL DOES NOT WORK! i cant think straight. someone pleaseplease help. and im 12! i get diarhea it hurts so bad
Answer:
You poor girl. I used to have the same problem when I was younger. My periods were so bad that I missed school and work and couldn't even get out of bed. I had diarrhea, leg cramps, back cramps, stomach cramps, headaches. If you were older I would suggest getting on birth control. After I got on the pill my periods were much better. I hardly had any cramps at all and my periods only lasted a few days instead of a week. But since you're twelve, try this: take 2 Pamprin first thing in the morning before you start getting cramps. Aleve is also pretty good for cramps. At home, get a heating pad and watch tv or something while it's on your stomach. A hot bath will also help relax your uterus. If nothing works and you're still miserable, see if your mom, or mom-figure will take you to the dr. they can prescribe you something specifically to help you with your pain. When you;re on your period try not to drink caffeine because it can aggravate the pain. I hope this helps you sweetie. Good luck.
you may have endo. You should talk to your mom and get checked out by a gyno. It may seem embarrassing, but it may save you a lot of pain to get it checked out. I have taken birth control pills to help my cramping. I wish I had gotton help when I was a teenager, I missed alot of school because of cramping.
In this situation, u must rush to the ER. Good luck!
Hi Sarah, I answered your previous question on cramps if that will help any.
My guess is that you have Primary dysmenorrhea.

Here's the link;
http://www.secure-server-uk.com/ova/what...

Rub your tummy and put a hot water bottle on it, and have a good lay down on your bed.
sounds like me when i was your age. I went to the gyno when I was 12, cramps from the very first period. They put me on birth control pills, it helps. Tell your mom to bring you. I've lost jobs and missed alot of school because of cramps and the only thing that help was Ortho-Tricyclen, you can even get a low dosage. Good Luck!!, I remember those days, and it sucks, I feel for you.
Rush to the ER oh please. Cramps are normal so is diarrhea. I used to get cramps midol helped some you could try Advil or Tylenol. Try and heating pad if all else fails ask your Mom to take you to the doctor maybe he or she can prescribe something stronger for the pain. What is happening to you is normal I promise.
You are to young for endometriosis. I just answered a similar question like this. MY best friend used to pass out because the cramps were so bad. Back then, there was nothing except Midol which didn't help her either..Now even male MD are more compassionate toward women with this problem. Ask your mom to take you to a female GYN. She will be more understanding of your problem and there are mild pain meds for people like you. Please don't wait. We have all been through it, not as bad as you perhaps, i know I was, but you will find your not alone, Many many women go through this, please, see a MD. Your mom should know about this as soon as possible. By the way, endometriosis usually occurs in women 37 yrs and older...This is the average age. I was that age when I got it so bad, I had a hysterectomy. This is what my Nursing Dictionary says. "Cramps, called dysmenorrhea, occurs typically in lower abdomen or back and is crampy, coming in successive waves caused by intense uterine contractions. Pain usually begins just prior to or at the onset of menstrual flow and lasts up to a day or more, but it may persist through the entire period in a few women. Pain is associated with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea with intestinal cramping"
So it seems you really need to see an MD. Good luck
Oh how I remember the horrible pain month after month from my period. I missed alot of school and work, something many didn't understand but it looks like others on here have gone through the same thing I did. My heart goes out to you.

Midol never helped me so I started using Premsyn which not only helped some with the cramps but it also helped to get rid of that "blue" feeling that would hit every month. You must start taking them two or three days BEFORE you are due to start for it to work efficiently, though.

Another thing that may help some is to exercise right before you are going to start. That helps to stretch the muscles before they have much chance to contract alot and it also builds up testosterone in your system which helps to lower the pain.

The main thing that helped me was heat. Get a heating pad and with the setting on low, curl up on your side with a blanket over you and go to sleep. By relaxing as you rest and letting the heat work on your abdomen, it will help to eliminate the pain.

You also want to limit salt and caffeine intake about a week before you start because both can add to your problems. Stay away from aspirin because it will thin your blood and make your blood watery and it will be harder to control accidents (or so I found after a couple of accidents in high school).

I also think you are too young to have endometriosis since your body hasn't had time to develop those problems yet and even though birth control can help with this, I wouldn't be too quick to start on those at your young age.

Birth control or any other synthetic drug can cause damage to your body, especially if taken for a long period of time so try to handle the pain by following the above steps until you get older.

No need to go to the ER unless you are hemorrhaging. This is a part of being female and we've all gone through it at one time or another. You might have your mother take you to a GYN and see about pain pills that you take the beginning of your period.

My first day was always the worst then I leveled out after that and the other days were tolerable. But when I got older, the cramps went two and three days at a time ~ that's when you may have endometriosis or fibroid tumors but if you go to your GYN regularly, those are things you can stay on top of so don't neglect your yearly checkups with the doctor.

And a bit of advice from my mother to share with you. Most likely, when you have your first child, the cramps will go away because the muscles and uterus will have been stretched from carrying the child. It did for her.

Age of getting pregnant...?

What is the oldest age that it is, on average, safe to get pregnant? I'm only almost 22 but I'm so ready. My husband simply isn't. I want a baby so bad and I'm afraid when he is ready it will take so long and I'll be too old. (Yes, I'm paranoid.)

So is 30 still safe??
Answer:
My mother was 35 when she had me.
I wouldn't wait longer than that.
My mom was 35 when she had me and I came into the world perfectly fine. You're still young. I know you want to have a baby very badly, but it might be best if you wait...spend time with your husband...just the two of you.
i think 40 is the limit, after that it could cause damage in the baby. ask your doctor. people still have healthy babys at 50. i think you cant wait for your husband
i say 25
After thirty is safe. In fact, in some ways, it is better because you'll have more emotional and financial resources by then. If you oops your husband, he will resent you and the child, and rightly so!
30 is fine to become pregnant, i would say once you hit the 40s it may not be a good idea to become pregnant though, your 22 enjoy life before you have children, explore the world, have fun and than start bringing up a family, i personally would wait to have children till about 25.
My mom was 35 when she had me. I'm normal and her pregnancy was too.
Yes, it's fine. My uncle was born when my grandmother was 40. Don't worry..sheesh. You can normally get pregnant as long as you are bleeding.
Honey I was 37 when I had my last child. She is now 15 and healthy and happy. I had problems but that was because I had several medical issues before I got pregnant with her.

After you use tampons do you find that your flow is lighter?
